ISLAMABAD: The federal gover
nment has decided to sign
agreements with Switzerland, C
entral Europe and Middle East nations to eliminate the illicit and secret
practice of money laundering.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that authorities would be given access to the accounts of Pakistanis present in the C
entral European countries.
In the first phase, Pakistan will sing an
agreement with Switzerland aimed at curtailing illicit and secret
practice of money laundering.
The
agreement will be signed in Geneva.
The information minister further added that the gover
nment will also ink different
agreements with several other European and Middle East countries for the same reason.
Fawad Chaudhry reiterated
government’s commitment to curb money laundering and vowed effective legislation in this regard.
